If you are locked out of your NSFAS account then it is possible to get the account unlocked. The steps below will guide you through how to do this for both temporary and permanent lockouts.
How To Unlock NSFAS Account User Profile
You must first open the NSFAS website by going to nsfas.gov.za. You can also open it from your browser or smartphone or tablet by searching for ‘NSFAS Login’ on Google, Bing and Yahoo search engines.
Login using your details
- Go to the NSFAS website at https://web.nsfas.gov.za/.
- Click on “Login” on the top right corner of your page
- Enter your username, password and email address in the appropriate fields and click on “Sign In” button
If you are locked out then select the option to reset your password.

Your new password will be delivered to your email address linked with the NSFAS account.
After this, you can login to your account and unlock it.
Once you’ve received your new password, change it immediately. Then keep it safe and don’t share it with anyone.
You may also want to contact NSFAS if you haven’t received an email with your new password after waiting more than 24 hours.
After this you can login to your account and unlock it.
After you have finished the steps, you will be able to log into your account and unlock it. You can now make payments and update your profile.
You should now be able to logon to your NSFAS account.
Congratulations! You now have a fully unlocked NSFAS account and can logon to view funds, status and apply for loans, grants and bursaries.
You should also be able to check your NSFAS account status at any time.
Now that you have an unlocked NSFAS account, you can apply for accommodation at any time of the year (provided you meet the eligibility criteria). You can also apply for tuition fees through MyNSFAS at any time of the year (provided you meet the eligibility criteria).
