The University of South Africa (UNISA) offers a Second Chance Programme for second-year students who were not promoted to the third year of their undergraduate studies. Students who were not promoted to the third year because of academic failures, or if they have been referred due to academic failures in the first year, are considered first-year students.
The Second Chance Programme is intended for second-year students who were not promoted to the third year of their undergraduate studies. If a student was not promoted to the third year because of academic failures, or if he/she has been referred due to academic failures in the first year, this student is considered a first-year student who must apply for admission through UNISA’s Undergraduate Admissions Office (UGAO).
The UGAO will assess applications for admission on merit and offer places accordingly. Applicants may be required to provide additional information about themselves as part of their application forms when applying through this route.
