List The Pass Requirements For Certificate Pass

1. Three (3) credits in English Language.

At least one credit pass must be obtained at O-level and the other at A-level.

2. Two (2) credits in Mathematics.

Mathematics is a compulsory subject in the NECO SSCE exam. It is divided into two parts: Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.

Pure Mathematics includes Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Trigonometry while Applied Mathematics includes Physics and Chemistry.

3. Four (4) credits in Core subjects

Which are; English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, Social Studies, Agricultural Science and Home Economics

• Basic Science and Technology
• Social Studies
• Agricultural Science and Home Economics.

4. Four (4) credits in Elective Subjects.

The four (4) elective credits may be chosen from any course with a grade of “C” or above, except for technical and vocational courses. The list of available electives are posted in the school website.

Students can also choose to take courses from other schools or institutions by paying the required fees.

5. To obtain a certificate pass you need atleast 5 credit passes in the NECO SSCE exam

To get a certificate pass, you must have obtained at least five credits in the NECO SSCE examinations.

This means that you must have passed English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology (BST), Social Studies, Agricultural Science and Home Economics.

You also need to pass at least four elective subjects from your options list. For example: Urdu language; Biology/ Chemistry; Physics/ Technical Drawing or Food & Nutrition/ Clothing & Textiles OR Business Studies/ Economics OR Further Mathematics.
