Students who qualify for a grant or bursary from NSFAS can access this money through their student account. If you are such a beneficiary, it is important that you know how to reset your password if ever it gets locked out because of some technical issues on their end or yours. Here’s how:

Make sure that you are connected to the internet, you will need to have access to the internet to be able to reset your NSFAS account password.

You will need to have access to the internet for this process. This can be done with a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. If you are on campus and have access to a university Wi-Fi network then you can go ahead and sign in using your username and password. You can also use a free public Wi-Fi network by signing into it with your username and password.

Once you have access to the internet, go to the NSFAS website.

You can use a public computer or use your own device. It’s free and doesn’t require registration or any other personal information.

The first thing that appears is the login page of NSFAS. You will see a box where you need to enter your username and password before being able to log in:

On this page, click on “Forgot your Password?”.

On this page, click on “Forgot your Password?”. Enter your student number and email address. Then click on “Submit”. Check your email for a message from NSFAS that contains a link to reset your password. Click on the link in the email provided by NSFAS to generate new temporary password. You will then be logged into your account as usual with this temporary password

Once you have clicked on this option, a box will pop up asking for your student number and email address.

If you do not know your student number or cannot find your email, please do not continue with this process.

After submitting these details, check your email inbox as well as your spam inbox for an email that directs you on how to reset your password. If the email is not in either inbox, try again and make sure that you are connected to the internet.
