The Department of Social Development has implemented a new application process as Covid-19 Relief, known as the “R350 SRD Scheme”, which replaces the standard SASSA social grant application.

How To Cancel SASSA R350 Application

The Department of Social Development has implemented a new application process as Covid-19 Relief, known as the “R350 SRD Scheme”, which replaces the standard SASSA social grant application.

As part of this new application process, beneficiaries will now apply for their grants online using an online portal (Covid-19) that was launched on 26 March 2019. Beneficiaries are advised to apply for their grants on time to avoid delays in payment of their grants in future

The USSD service is operated by SASSA and MTN (South Africa’s mobile network operator). This means that you will be canceling your application through the keypad on your phone.

To cancel an application, SMS CANCEL to 48716

This is not an emergency number and you can cancel your application at any time. You will receive a confirmation SMS from Sassa and the cancellation process will start immediately.

You will not be charged for cancelling an application as long as we have not yet activated it for you in our system.
