How Do I Submit My Bank Information To SASSA?

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made it easier for beneficiaries to receive their grants and pensions by introducing a new ‘GoDigital’ channel. In this article, we explain how you can register your bank details with Sassa so that you can get paid on time.

How Do I Submit My Bank Information To SASSA?

To submit your bank details to Sassa, go to the Sassa website and click on the “Go Digital” button.

Then, fill in the form with your name, ID number and eWallet number (if you have one). Make sure that everything is correct! After that, click on Submit.

Now print out this page if you haven’t already done so. You’ll need it when you go to your bank branch to send in a paper copy of the information you entered on their website earlier today!

Can I submit this form by email, fax or in person if I am unable to submit it online?

You can submit this form by email, fax or in person if you are unable to submit it online.

If you have any questions about submitting your bank account information, please contact the Sassa call centre on 0800 200 728.

How Does GoDigital Work?

GoDigital is a new channel for the payment of social grants. It means that you can pay for your social grant electronically, via an electronic wallet on your mobile phone or by using a card at a point-of-sale (POS) terminal at any vendor location.

GoDigital is your official way to pay for your monthly Sassa payments electronically through your mobile phone or POS terminal. GoDigital was launched in September 2018 and replaced the Sassa SelfServ portal that was previously used to make payments from 2011-2018.

You’ll need to provide your bank account details to allow Sassa access to these funds. This is done through an application process with our service provider PayGate, who act as a proxy between you and Sassa to facilitate payments into your bank account on their behalf.

What is the difference between the GoDigital Channel and the SASSA card?

If you’re a registered South African citizen, the SASSA card is a physical card that you can use to withdraw money at ATMs and pay for goods with. It also allows you to pay your bill in installments, if approved by Sassa. The GoDigital channel is an online service that allows people to submit their bank information without having to physically go into a Sassa office or send it through snail mail.

If the card is available and your bank account has all of the necessary information on file, then this will be indicated under “Bank Account Details”. If it doesn’t show up as an option in this section, then follow these steps:

  • Log into your internet banking profile and make sure that all of your information is correct (eg name as displayed on ID document). If it’s not correct yet but needs updating (eg spelling error), contact them directly about changing this info rather than trying via SASSA by contacting them directly 2) Contact us here at [email protected] so we can assist further 3) If none of these options work out for some reason – try calling us at 0800 915 444 (option 1) or emailing us ([email protected]) with this request!

Where will I be able to use my SASSA card?

You can use your SASSA card at any ATM or bank. You can also use it at any shop that accepts VISA, Mastercard and American Express.

What if my SASSA card expires or is lost/stolen?

If you lose your SASSA card, or if it expires, you can contact Sassa to get a replacement card. You will have to pay an administration fee for the replacement card and then wait for it to arrive in the mail.

When submitting bank information to Sassa, make sure to include all of the following information:

  • Your name and ID number
  • The name of your bank (and their physical address) * Your account number at that bank

What if I earn more than R350.00 per month and still want to use a SASSA card for me or my dependant?

If you earn more than R350.00 per month and still want to use a SASSA card for yourself or your dependent, please submit your bank statement from the last three months to Sassa. This will enable Sassa to verify that you are indeed earning enough as well as being eligible for social grants in South Africa.

You must submit 3 months of bank statements with each application you make on behalf of a person who is not eligible for social grants but lives with you (for example, family members).

Will my children get their money paid on-time although they have not chosen a channel yet?

Yes, your children will get their money.

You can change their bank details by going to the Sassa website and clicking on the ‘Update My Details’ button. In the next page, enter their name and surname as well as their ID number or birth certificate number. You will then be given a unique reference number (URN) which you must give to your child so that they can update their details with the bank.

In terms of changing gender or date of birth: if you are under age 18 and have not yet completed a name change process, it is recommended that you use this opportunity to do so now so that there will not be any confusion later on when claiming grants for higher education studies in future years.
