How Do I Know If My UNISA Application Was Successful?

If you’re interested in studying at UNISA, you’ll need to apply through the admission process. Before you start your application, it’s important that you know what the admission process looks like so that there are no surprises along the way.

How Do I Know If My UNISA Application Was Successful?

When your application is successful, the University will notify you by email. You can also check your status by accessing the university website.

You can also find out if your application has been accepted or declined by phone through the Student Administration office at +27 (0)11 810-2300 or +27 (0)11 810-2302 in Cape Town; +27 (0)21 959-5000 in Durban; and +27 (0)41 793 3050 in Port Elizabeth.

If you are unsuccessful in gaining entry into a particular course at UNISA, there is no appeal process for a decision made on admission applications based on academic merit unless exceptional circumstances exist which warrant special consideration of an application and permit applications to be reconsidered after completion of first year studies at UNISA.

If the outcome letter is not received within two weeks of applying, it is advisable to contact the University directly to confirm that they have received your application.

You can also check on the status of your application by logging on to unisa.ac.za and accessing U-Assist or My UNISA as a student applicant or by contacting Student Support Services on 012 420 4171 or 0860 101 021 (South Africa only). If you are unsuccessful, please reapply for the next intake in January 2020 (or later).

What happens after the closing date?

After the closing date, you’ll receive an email from UNISA confirming that your application has been submitted. This can take up to three days.

If your application was successful, you will then be invited to pay for and confirm your registration as well as make payment for any additional fees (such as late registration and/or supplementary exam fees).

Once you’ve completed this step, it’s time to wait… and wait…
