The NQF level 4 General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) has been introduced to replace the former Grade 9 Certificate. The GETC is a qualification that, when completed, serves as an exit level for learners who wish to leave the schooling system, but do not meet the requirements for admission to a National Certificate Vocational (NC(V) Level 2 to 4). This is similar to the old Grade 9 Certificate, but with a better framework.
