Diploma In Law Requirements At UNISA (2023)

The Diploma in Law is a nationally recognised qualification that can lead to further study at higher levels. It is designed to provide you with an understanding of the law and its application, as well as the opportunity to develop your critical thinking skills.

The course consists of one year full-time study (or two years part-time) and requires you to complete 120 credits.

Diploma In Law Requirements At UNISA

You will need a Senior Certificate with matriculation exemption or a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an APS of 22.

To apply for a matriculation exemption, you must have obtained a certificate from another institution and be allowed to transfer it to UNISA. You should contact the University if you wish to do this as part of your application process.

To be eligible for admission to a degree programme, you will need to have achieved at least 40% in English HL or FAL HL.

In addition to the above, you must complete four other recognised 20-credit subjects at NQF level 4 and a minimum achievement rating of 4 (50-59%). These subjects should be relevant to the qualification and include a minimum of 20 credits.

• Humanities & Arts (excluding languages)

Self-enrollment is essential to ensure that you are validly registered for the qualification.

You need to self-enroll in each semester, which means you have to complete the process before classes start. The University of South Africa (UNISA) has a self-enrollment link on their website where you can easily register yourself or request more information about the procedure.

If you want to study the Diploma in Law you will need to meet these requirements.

• Be a South African citizen and resident of South Africa at the time of registration.
• Be in possession of a matric certificate or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to UNISA (completed with a minimum pass mark).
• Have obtained an average grade of 40% or better in Literacy skills, Life Orientation, Critical Thinking and Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level. If your results are below 40%, but above 30%, then you will be required to write an aptitude test before being permitted access into the course
